Allergy Today: New Lupin Advice for Sanitarium Products
From April, Lupin will be listed as a potential cross-contact allergen on a range of Sanitarium™ products.
Lupin is a legume that can cause an allergic response in fewer than 1% of the population. While the risk is very low, impacted Sanitarium products will now declare lupin in the ‘May contain’ statement.
Here's an example: Weet-Bix Original
People with food allergies are encouraged to view all Sanitarium product information at www.sanitarium.co.nz/products
Products affected are:
Weet-Bix Bites (all varieties)
There is no lupin cross-contact risk with Weet-Bix Gluten Free and Weet-Bix Organic. The allergen status of these Weet-Bix products is unchanged.
