allergy awareness week 17-23 May 2009
Allergy New Zealand is using Allergy Awareness Week to launch its new resources, including a series of three bookmarks, a pamphlet on anaphylaxis and posters aimed at educating the food service industry.
The bookmarks are designed by artist Aki Fukuoka and focus on general allergies, being a mate to a friend with food allergies, and eating out safely. The main idea is to drive people to Allergy New Zealand’s website, as well as offering practical advice. The bookmarks, sponsored by Nutricia, will be distributed to over 50 community and school libraries around the country, which are holding allergy displays. Allergy Awareness Week will finish with the Gluten Free Food & Allergy Show in Auckland. Allergy New Zealand will be promoting the New Zealand Food Allergy Cookbook, the raffle with a trip for two to Samoa, membership and magazine subscription. Anna Richards, dietitian will be talking about food allergies and intolerances, and Penny Jorgensen will be giving a seminar on the guidelines for schools and early childhood services. |
