Allergy & Anaphylaxis Guidelines for ECE's and Schools Launch - Preparing for School Workshop

Presenters: Susie Lester Allergy Nurse Specialist, Laurelle Breen PHN and Ann Hays PHN

This workshop is for parents, caregivers and family members of children with allergies who are about to start school or transition from Primary to Intermediate or Intermediate to Secondary School. The workshop may also be of interest to school staff, board of trustees and parents or caregivers of preschool children.

The fundamentals of the Allergy and Anaphylaxis Guidelines will be presented, followed by an interactive workshop covering the following:
  • How to approach your child's school and work with your Public Health Nurse to ensure the best care for your child
  • Practical advice for parents and caregivers of children with allergies
  • Age appropriate strategies for helping your child to manage their allergies
  • Presentation of the two new auto-injectors - EpiPen and Anapen and the opportunity to practice with guidance from the Public Health Nurse
